IT’S the sequel film fans were dreading but some secretly longed for – Showgirls 2.
The 1995 original is widely regarded as one of the worst movies ever made and won seven Golden Raspberry Awards – aka Razzies – at the ceremony held to honour Hollywood’s worst work.
The plot centred around down-and-out Nomi Malone – played by Saved By The Bell star ELIZABETH BERKLEY – who hitchhikes to Las Vegas to find fame and fortune as an erotic dancer.
The film contains copious amounts of nudity and featured a bizarre sex scene in a swimming pool.
Original stars Berkley, Desperate Housewives actor KYLE MACLACHLAN and director PAUL VERHOEVEN will not be involved in the next installment.
German director MARC VORLANDER, who has no links to the original, is developing the follow-up and has been handed a £17million budget.
Showgirls: Story Of Hope follows the fortunes of stripper Penny – a supporting character in the original played by RENA RIFFEL – who travels to Frankfurt to avenge her brother’s murder.
Surely it can’t be any worse?
