Teen star Miley Cyrus has apologised to her fans for posing topless in a magazine shoot.
The 15-year-old, star of Hannah Montana , only had a satin bedsheet to cover her modesty while taking part in a provocative shoot for Vanity Fair.
The pictures have caused outrage in the States and the actress, who will reportedly be worth a predicted $1 Billion by the end of this year, hopes her apology can preserve her squeaky-clean image.
Miley said: “I took part in a photo shoot that was supposed to be ‘artistic’ and now, seeing the photographs and reading the story, I feel so embarrassed.
“I never intended for any of this to happen and I apologise to my fans who I care so deeply about.”
Her comments may have appeased her critics, but they have not gone down well with the magazine that published them.
A spokesperson said: “Miley’s parents and/or minders were on the set all day.
“Since the photo was taken digitally, they saw it on the shoot and everyone thought it was a beautiful and natural portrait of Miley.”
