OJ Simpson trial pushed back to September

OJ SimpsonDisgraced former football star O.J. Simpson won’t be tried on armed robbery and kidnapping charges until September, giving Simpson and two co-defendants six more months to prepare their cases.

District Judge Jackie Glass on Friday said she didn’t want to delay the trial but felt she needed to push it back to September 8 to give prosecutors time to analyze and enhance tape recordings and other evidence and provide the results to defense attorneys.

The case against Simpson, famously acquitted of the 1994 murders of his ex-wife and her friend, and his co-defendants had been scheduled to begin April 7.

“There will be absolutely, positively no reason” for another delay, a perturbed Glass said, admonishing attorneys from all sides.

The judge ruled against a motion to throw out any of the charges against Simpson, John Ehrlich or co-defendant Clarence “C.J.” Stewart, although her comments reflected her own doubts about the strength of certain charges.
